Mini Storage Building Kit in Grand Portage, Minnesota

Regency Steel Buildings supplied this prefabricated steel mini storage building for a customer in Grand Portage, Minnesota in 2014.

Charcoal in color with a matching roof and trim, the building stands 25’x100’x8.5’, and is now part of Big Bucks Discount Storage in rural Grand Portage. It features (28) rentable storage units, (6) of which stand 10’x15’ and have 9’x7’ framed openings. Another (6) units are 10’x10’ and also have 9’x7’ framed openings, while (8) more are sized 5’x15’ and have 4’x7’ framed openings. The final (8) units are 5’x10’ in size and also have 4’x7’ openings.

The building contains (84) sunset orange Janus Model 650 mini storage doors, (48) of which are 4’x7’ and (36) of which stand 9’x7’. Additional mini storage building features include wedge anchors and fasteners, erection drawings, gutters and downspouts and 29-gauge partition panels with a Galvalume finish. To accommodate the often cold, snowy climate of the Grand Portage area, the metal building was constructed with a wind speed of 90 mph, a ground snow load of 60 lbs. and a roof snow load of 42 lbs.

Grand Portage is considered an unorganized territory and is located along Lake Superior in Cook County, in northeast Minnesota. It lies about 145 miles outside Duluth and 35 miles from Grand Marais.
