Two Mini Storage Buildings Supplied in Portage, Wisconsin

Regency Steel Buildings supplied these (2) steel mini storage buildings for a customer in Portage, Wisconsin, in mid-November of 2013.  Together, they serve as a mini storage complex.

The first of the (2) large metal buildings stands 40’x130’x8.5’ and has a 0.5:12 roof pitch, while the second stands 40’x100’x8.5’ and also has a 0.5:12 roof pitch. The first building boasts (34) rentable mini storage units of varying sizes, including (4) 10’x10’ units with 9’x7’ framed openings, (4) 10’x15’ units with 9’x7’ framed openings,  (4) 10’x25’ units with 9’x7’ framed openings,  (14) 10’x20’ units with 9’x7’ framed openings and (8) 5’x10’ units with 4’x7’ framed openings. The second building is home to (20) 10’x20’ units with 9’x7’ framed openings.

Between the (2) buildings, they have (54) Model 650 mini storage doors, (8) of which are 4’x7’ and (46) of which are 9’x7’. Additional building features include Wisconsin engineer-stamped drawings, wedge anchors and fasteners, 29-gauge partition panels with a Galvalume finish, gutters and downspouts and 120’ custom trim. To help prevent the collection of unwanted air and moisture, (150) inside closure strips and (150) outdoor closure strips were also included at the time of construction. The second and smaller of the (2) buildings also has a 2 ¾ vapor barrier in the roof to help prevent the formation of condensation.

Portage receives considerable annual precipitation and snowfall that far exceeds national averages, and in consideration of the area’s typical climate, the building was designed with a wind speed of 90 mph, a ground snow load of 43 lbs. and a roof snow load of 30 lbs.

The City of Portage is located within Columbia County, in south-central Wisconsin. It sits about 60 miles from Fond du Lac and 38 miles outside Madison.
